DIY Ribbon Hair Elastics!

I found the price of these ribbon hair elastics ridiculous! I wasn't going to be paying a dollar for a hair tie! So I found a way of making them myself. The main item you need to make your own is fold over elastic. I searched online and found the cheapest place to get the fold over elastic (FOE) was ebay. I'll link the store I bought it from below. But I bought enough elastic to make 150 elastics for $12 including shipping. That would have bought me maybe 10 hair ties most places.
Where I got my FOE:
website: http://www.saleandbargain.com/elastic.html
ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/saleandbargain

Materials you'll need:

  • Fold over elastic
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • clear nail polish (optional)

  1. Cut a 9 in. piece of elastic.
  2. Lightly coat the ends with clear nail polish so they won't fray as easily. (optional)
  3. Let that dry for about 30 sec. or until it feels dry.
  4. Fold your strip in half.
  5. Tie a knot on the end.
Your done! These will stretch out a bit after a couple uses but nothing terrible. I Hope I helped you save some money with these DIY hair ties!

Hope your having a wonderful day!

NOTD- Lilacism ft. Sparked

I'm wearing an old favorite, Essie's "Lilacism", a milky lavender color, with "Sparked" by Wet & Wild on my ring fingers. "Sparked" is a really pretty pink and silver glitter. I'm really liking these nails. They are girly and fun and are holding up really nicely, one thing I love about Essie polishes.
Hope your having a great day!
